Beautiful Holiday Ideas
Cranberries!
Make use of that beautiful stunning red color and it will not break the bank like purchasing pricey "ilex" berries.
Like this stunning cranberry ball, atop of a candle pedastal. Simply use a foam ball or oasis from any craft store, and insert toothpicks into cranberries and pop on to the balls. Beautiful centerpiece, decoration or hostess gift this holiday season.
Use them in your floral designs, they float and make beautiful deep red beds for floating candles to rest in. (Use a floral frog to get a flower such as this red rose in this picture to stay put on the bottom).
This is one of my favorite ideas I found today, using ferns with stones and a floating candle atop, this can evoke a spring or holiday feeling.

"One of the highlights of my wedding was the people I worked with & the relationships I developed along the way. To say that Kim Lamothe at Greenlion Design was an absolute pleasure to work with is the understatement of the century. Effortlessly professional, attentive listener, caring & creative, she was everything I hoped for in a florist. Who wouldn’t want a friend like that?? And friend is exactly what she felt like to me. That’s just how much care & dedication she put into my wedding.
Flowers can make or break the ambiance of a venue & she exceeded my expectations. While I didn’t give THAT much direction, I felt it was in my favor because it allowed her insight and expertise to take over. Plus, she has the ability to read your mind so there is no need to micro-manage! She incorporated everything I asked for while offering great suggestions and combination's along the way. Kim never forgot or overlooked what I wanted despite the long period of time we worked together! She is so talented & extremely easy to work with. If you want beauty & elegance in addition to unique, fun and different design, go with Kim!
You will not be disappointed and will remember her efforts forever." -Erin Sweeny

Caitlin & Jeffery, Whispering Pines Conference Center, RI
The wedding was held at Whispering Pines Conference Center in RI. A stunning botanical wonderland down a long winding pine-lined road. The air was clean and it felt like you were in another world. For this horticulturist, I thought I was in heaven. The rain did not dampen the day (no pun intended, or maybe it is) and it seemed to add to the romance.
The centerpieces were inspired by an image Caitlin found, that evoked the feelings she was looking for. They matched the venue beautifully. Pitcher plants, lotus pods, asparagus ferns and succulents stood tall in low fishbowls. Fully opened peach roses sat in the bottom of the vases that added a romantic traditional feeling to a otherwise very nontraditional design.
We did half the tables with these intricate designs and the other half with simpler versions in different vessels. I love using different vessels on the tables; it gives guests a reason to wander with curiosity.
Caitlin wanted a mostly white bouquet with touches of blush pinks and greens. I incorporated pitcher (bog) plants and lotus pods to tie in the centerpieces. Lush white dahlias with barely there pink centers, lisianthus, peach roses, blush pink astilbe and seeded eucalyptus...
Long velvet ribbons adorned the bouquets, and the boot n' ears as well. The bridesmaids carried simpler versions of the bride's bouquet with small dahlias, astilbe, seeded Queen Anne's lace and lady's mantle blooms...
The mothers of the bride and groom carried nosegays which were delivered in vintage bottles which they were later dropped in to be displayed;
The boutonnieres were made with a succulent, an asparagus fern, sweet pea tendril and lady's mantle bloom accent:
The bride got a film charm for her groom's boutonniere as a surprise and to make his extra special and unique:
A vintage garden trellis was the centerpiece for the wedding ceremony. Bottles filled with big garden blooms and glowing candles in lace covered votive holders all contributed to the beauty and romantic feel!
